Winspace T1550 Gen 2 and Lún HYPER 3 D45: What You Actually Get

Winspace no longer fits the simple description of a low-cost frameset company. Its current range includes race frames, complete road bikes, gravel bikes, components and Lún wheelsets. An old review built around a bargain frame price or a dramatic comparison with Zipp no longer describes what buyers can order.

At the time of checking, the T1550 Gen 2 frameset was listed at $1,900, the T1550 Gen 2 105 Di2 complete bike at $4,199, and the Lún HYPER 3 D45 wheelset at a $1,499 sale price. Those are serious purchases, even if they undercut some established premium products.

This guide separates current manufacturer specifications from opinion. We have not performed a long-term laboratory or road test, so we will not repeat claims that the T1550 is automatically better than Canyon, Cervélo, BMC or Giant. The useful question is whether its fit, interfaces, support model and landed cost work for you.

T1550 Gen 2 Frameset Specifications

The T1550 Gen 2 is Winspace's aero-oriented race frame. The official page lists five sizes from 440 to 550 mm, Toray T1000 and T800 carbon, flat-mount disc brakes, 12x100 and 12x142 mm thru-axles, a T47 internal symmetric 85.5 mm bottom bracket and clearance for tires up to 700x32C.

Interface Official listing
Sizes XS 440, S 470, M 490, L 520, XL 550
Frame weight 828 g ±35 g, unpainted size M
Bottom bracket T47 internal symmetric, 85.5 mm
Tire clearance Maximum 700x32C
Axles 12x100 front, 12x142 rear
Routing Mechanical, Di2, Campagnolo EPS, SRAM eTap
Seatpost Proprietary aero post, included
Warranty Limited three years under current terms

The frameset page gives an unpainted weight, while the complete-bike page gives 855 g for a painted size-M frame. These can both be true under different measurement conditions, but neither guarantees the delivered weight of every color.

Winspace lists UCI approval. That can matter for equipment eligibility in events governed by UCI technical rules. It is not a structural safety certificate, an independent durability ranking, or proof that the frame rides better than a competitor.

Fit Comes Before Aero Claims

The five nominal sizes do not map cleanly to another brand's labels. Compare stack and reach, not the number printed beside the frame. Then calculate hood position using the headset cover, spacer stack, cockpit length, bar reach and lever placement.

The included aero seatpost is proprietary. Confirm setback, saddle-rail clamp compatibility, minimum insertion and replacement availability. A proprietary post can improve integration, but it removes the option of buying an ordinary 27.2 mm replacement from any shop.

Official material highlights revised stack-to-reach proportions and a longer head tube than the first generation. That does not automatically make the bike relaxed. Request the geometry chart for the exact size, compare it with a comfortable bike, and account for the intended spacer setup. Riders between sizes should decide from achievable contact points, not a marketing promise about handling.

T47, Routing, and Build Compatibility

T47 is threaded, but “T47” alone is not enough information. The T1550 uses an internal symmetric 85.5 mm shell. The bottom bracket must match that shell, the crank spindle and the bearing arrangement. Do not order a generic T47 unit before verifying all three.

The frame page lists mechanical shifting as well as Di2, Campagnolo EPS and SRAM eTap. Mechanical compatibility is useful, but full internal routing increases cable-friction risk and makes cockpit changes more labor-intensive. Ask which stops, liners and grommets are supplied for the exact drivetrain.

Build decision Confirm before ordering
Crank and bottom bracket Spindle type and T47 internal 85.5 mm compatibility
Cockpit Width, stem length, hose path and spacer limit
Brakes Rotor size, adapters, hose length and fluid
Wheels Freehub, rotor interface and axle dimensions
Tires Actual measured width and physical clearance
Small parts Hanger, headset, grommets, spacers and axles

The 32 mm maximum is useful, but tire labels are not measurements. A nominal 32 mm tire may grow wider on a 23 mm internal rim. Ask whether the limit refers to labeled or measured width and what clearance remains in real conditions.

The 105 Di2 Complete Bike Alternative

The previous article incorrectly described Winspace as frameset-only. The current catalog includes many complete bikes. The T1550 Gen 2 105 Di2 was listed at $4,199 with Shimano 105 Di2 2x12, an 11–34 cassette, hydraulic discs, Lún HYPER 3 D45 wheels and 28 mm tires.

Winspace quotes approximately 7.9 kg for a size M without pedals. Treat that as a manufacturer figure; size, paint, cockpit and substitutions can alter delivered weight. The product page also notes warehouse-dependent tire differences and changing crank availability.

Frameset route Complete-bike route
Maximum control over fit and components Fewer compatibility decisions
Useful if you already own parts Includes HYPER 3 D45 wheels
Requires routing, bleeding and assembly Arrives mostly assembled under current policy
Final price is easy to underestimate Specification may vary by warehouse

Request a dated build sheet. Confirm shifters, derailleurs, crank length and rings, cassette, chain, rotors, freehub, cockpit, tires, saddle and included tools. A model name is not a complete specification.

Lún HYPER 3 D45 Wheel Facts

The HYPER 3 D45 is not a $700 wheelset in the current store. It was listed at $1,499 on sale, down from $1,699. The front rim is 46 mm deep and the rear 54 mm, both with a 23 mm internal and 28.4 mm external width.

Winspace claims 1,334 g ±50 g, a 130 kg maximum system weight, 20 front and 21 rear carbon spokes, ceramic bearings and Shimano, XDR, Campagnolo and N3W freehubs. The hooked rims are listed for tubeless or clincher use with tires from 25 to 47 mm.

The page claims a 2.2-watt saving over HYPER 23 at 48 km/h from commissioned wind-tunnel work. That is a manufacturer comparison against its prior wheel, not independent evidence that the D45 beats a specific Zipp, ENVE or Roval. Cross-brand aero comparisons require the same tire, pressure, bike, protocol and yaw distribution.

Carbon Spokes and Serviceability

Wide carbon spokes are central to the HYPER design. They may contribute to stiffness and aerodynamic shaping, but ownership depends on replacement access and local workshop confidence. Ask whether a spoke kit and required nipple tool can be ordered with the wheels.

The current page is inconsistent about ratchet material: one specification line says steel, while marketing copy discusses titanium. Do not buy on that detail without written confirmation of the delivered revision. More important questions include bearing sizes, freehub availability, spoke-tension instructions and the process for a damaged rim.

For tubeless use, follow wheel and tire compatibility and pressure limits. The page's 120 psi maximum is a structural ceiling, not a recommended road-tubeless pressure. Actual pressure depends on tire size, measured width, system mass and tire-maker limits.

Warranty, Shipping, and Returns

Winspace's warranty page states three years for framesets and two years for wheelsets, covering manufacturing defects for the original purchaser. It excludes normal wear and misuse, and coverage is non-transferable.

That is better than vague support promises, but process matters. Ask which entity receives a claim, who pays freight, what evidence is required, and whether local-shop labor is reimbursed. Bearings, spokes and rim tape are wear parts rather than automatically covered defects.

Regional warehouses may reduce delivery time or duty uncertainty, but stock and fulfillment vary. Complete bikes can involve partner assembly and longer lead times. Keep the product page, confirmed build sheet, serial number, invoice and unboxing photos.

Inspect the delivery before cutting hoses or installing components. Photograph the sealed carton, paint, fork, seatpost, axle threads, brake mounts and every included small part. A qualified mechanic should check headset fit, hanger alignment, bottom-bracket threads, caliper alignment and wheel condition before the first ride. Report damage immediately rather than building through a questionable area.

For wheels, record serial numbers and check lateral and radial true, spoke condition, freehub engagement, bearing feel and rim-tape installation. Tubeless tape and valves are setup items, not proof that a wheel is ready for every tire. Perform a controlled inflation, inspect both beads, and use soapy water to identify leakage before riding. Recheck pressure and spoke condition after the initial rides.

True Cost and Buying Verdict

For a frameset, add cockpit, bottom bracket, groupset, rotors, wheels, tires, saddle, bar tape, shipping, tax and professional labor. Include the first inspection and proprietary spares. A $1,900 frame becomes a much more expensive bike before it is ready to ride.

A sensible comparison sheet should include the same categories for every candidate: delivered price, exact component generation, wheel model, fit changes, assembly, first service, spare hanger, travel or return freight, warranty duration and resale assumptions. Avoid assigning zero value to support just because it is difficult to price. One mis-sized integrated cockpit or one international return can erase a meaningful part of the initial saving.

The opposite mistake is treating a familiar logo as automatic value. A local bike with unsuitable gearing, narrow tire clearance or the wrong contact points is not a better purchase merely because its dealer is nearby. Compare complete systems against your actual riding, mechanical ability and tolerance for delayed parts—not country of origin.

Compare the complete bike with dealer-supported bikes at the same landed price, not a flagship competitor's MSRP. Assign value to a local fit, test ride, immediate parts access and shop-handled warranty work. Direct purchasing is most attractive when the buyer can specify, inspect and maintain the system confidently.

Our verdict: the T1550 Gen 2 is a credible current aero frameset with useful 32 mm clearance, a threaded shell and broad drivetrain compatibility. The HYPER 3 D45 offers a light, deep, modern wheel specification, but its $1,499 price deserves the same scrutiny as other premium wheels. Neither needs exaggerated “better than Zipp” claims to be interesting.
